I am new to XviD and encoding vidoes. I did a 2 pass XviD encoding of my DVD's at 850-900 kbps. The quality is very close to the DVD itself. This works perfectly for DVD's.
I have huge collection of MPEG-1 1500 kbps music videos which i want to convert to XviD. Size is a concern. When I tried encoding at 450-600 kbps, it looks quiet good. What can the minimum and optimal bitrate for these videos?

Such a thing does not exist.

or better

every movie has a "personal" optimal bitrate. Try using a compression test on varius sample and if you found a regular bitrate distribuition than you can assume that all those similar movie will be ok to be encoded at this bitrate...

bettere again use autogk and its queue fuction

No, I really meant there is no such thing.

'Optimal' suggests a trade-off between quality and filesize, and it is rather hard to determine what a good trade-off is for someone else. If only quality is a concern then of course the most optimal bitrate is the highest one possible.
