All my ts files have played fine on VLC Media Player until this one.

I just downloaded a ts file which says 1080i, h264. It won't play on VLC Media Player v.0.8.5 which I just upgraded to.

What am I missing? Do I need a different media player?

Interlaced AVC decoding, and a thorough rereading of the rules.

Thanks for your reply Foxyshadis.

So interlaced AVC decoding is my problem?

I ran a search on "interlaced AVC decoding" and came up with nothing useful to me. Seemed like the same thing when I read the forums, the guides and the FAQs before I posted this thread.

I did find some interlace settings within VLC Player, but nothing I try gets the file to play properly. I get sound but no picture. Then after a couple of seconds VLC Player gives an error message and freezes.

Will VLC Player play this file? Are there special settings I need to make? Is there somewhere on this forum site that explains these things? Is there someone who knows how to make this file play? And can explain it? Is there another media player I should be trying?

No. You will have to wait for a future update to VLC which supports interlaced AVC, or buy coreavc.

MBAFF support
PAFF interlacing is not supported

I have not come across any files to date to test it.
