Something about Windows Media Player

Can anyone enable WMP to support .mkv files? Of course i know i can use 'haali media splitter' to do the job. But I mean to put '.mkv' into the 'Types List' of the 'Open' dialog box of WMP10. Any idea?

It is supposed to open .mkv files since that the streams encapsulated into mkv container have the proper codecs installed. I think that ffdshow does the work for the majority of codecs available.

But the meaning of my words is that I am trying to make .mkv appear in the 'Type' list in the 'Open' dialog of WMP. You know there isn't any direct way to do so.

Ahhh, now I got you: in this case I would go to Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder options -> Files Types and there set .mkv file type to WMP ...
