Hello

For a few months I was able to capture HD streams via firewire off my cox hd dvr using the software CapVHS and the motorolla av/dc tuner driver.

Now i am no longer able to successfully capture HD. I can still get SD fine but when I attempt to play an HD .ts stream in mplayerC I get a "Cannot Render File" error. This problem is both on my pc and laptop.

Any ideas?

Are you trying to capture broadcast channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, etc? Or are you trying to capture cable channels like ESPN HD?

ESPN HD, TNTHD and others are usually copy-protected. CBS, NBC, ABC, etc are usually allowed to be recorded since they are using public airwaves.

Yes the issue is 5c copy protection. I have heard that I can get a D-VHS deck that can still record 5c protected programs. Is this true? My Cox DVR deck is full so I am eager to dump some stuff to my PC to make some room for new programs.

What is the cheapest available D-VHS deck that doesn't suffer any quality loss?
