When I play a store bought/commercial DVD using Media Player Classic, I'm able to view VOBsub subtitles, even when the "DirectShow Video Output" is set to "System Default".

By contrast, if I want to view VOBsub subtitles muxed within the MP4 container I have to set the "DirectShow Video Output" to either "VMR7 (Renderless) or VMR9 (Renderless)".... Why is this?

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry no answer but somehow related. I just can't get MPC to play any subs - it always complains that I should set the filters to VMR7/9 renderless or Haali's but shows this message again after I did so????
Might help to mention that i cant see any movie on my laptop if i have hardware accelleration to max - I always need to deactivate all DirectDraw, Direct3D, Curser and Drawing accellerations to see the video in any software player...

tia and luv, leila
