Has anyone taken a stab at this one?

There's a "Choose Your Fate" option for playing the movie that uses interleaving, angles, etc. to allow you to take different paths during the movie.

I'm having some problems with playing the Rebuilder output in PowerDVD v4.

This feature begins with Title 2. At 11:10, there's a prompt: choosing "Tails" takes you to Title 3, and an early exit from the movie. During the end credits of this early exit, at 22:10, there's another prompt: choosing "Yes" takes you back to Title 2 to continue playing the main movie.

The End Credits jump in this sequence isn't working in PowerDVD, it just continues rolling the credits until the title ends. Also, I lose navigational/time slider after the first prompt (Tails) and cannot advance the movie by clicking on the slider.

I tried this in WinDVD v6, and it seems to work a little better -- I think the jumps work, but I lose time slider capability in it too.

The mounted .ISO works fine either way.

how does the original react compared to windvd? ( i wouldnt use powerdvd as a reference since it sometimes has problems with cell commands.)

I did And I recived error 9, What did you use to rip and what settings in dvdrb?

The nav slider issue is probably due to the multi-story nature of the title and it could be that it is a Not_one_sequential title? Without the IFOs I can't be sure.

Check in PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) that all the cell flags from the output match those of the rip.

Ok, I just did some more testing:

The original plays fine in PowerDVD v4, everything works. The original plays fine in WinDVD v6, jumps work, but I lose nav capability after the first prompt.

The DVD-RB output does not work in PowerDVD v4. I lose nav capability after the first prompt, and the second prompt does not jump back to the movie (from end credits).

The DVD-RB output does not work in WinDVD v6. The playback stutters at the first prompt, and I lose nav capability after this prompt. The second prompt does jump back to the movie as expected, though.

I'd either update your AnyDVD or rip with RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/) - AnyDVD, as you have observed, is way past that version.

Sorry to say Blutach, I Just tried it with Ripit4Me(latest)And It failed (error 9) I did it before with anydvd 6042 last time and that failed. Now trying with 6045.

just a thought, can it be done with moive only selected? There is an alt ending? Could that be why I get the error.

Here's my log an ini, Could you take a look? what did you use?

Thanks and sorry for the hijack.

Well, here's my log if interested:

http://www.chicagophoto.net/blackhole/Doom9/FINAL_DESTINATION3.rebuilder.log

Yes, I could update AnyDVD, but then given the trouble Jack'n'xbox is having, maybe that's not a good idea. My image plays fine, the Rebuilder output does not.

This DVD has 3 main titles (multi-story) each with angles. From your log, it appears DVD Rebuilder (http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/) identifies the ILVUs OK. Deos it just stop rebuilding after segment 8?

Well I have good news. I had asked in an earlyer post about which mode shold be used due to the mult fates/endings that the moive has,(full,menu/moive and moive only). I was told that it should not matter well it dose. I just baked it up withthe option menu/moive and its seems to work .I have itburned and plyed the first 10 min and there seems to be no problem. I will watch the reast of the move tonight, as ts my boy birthday and I'm taking him out to lazer quest. I will report back monday.

Thans all
and Jdobbs You have made a great app
I bow before your greatness

edit, sorry to say that the moive played well but there never was a "choose there fate" The moive played without any interaction from the user.

sorry

Tried it with original Layout of the Movie and with a Layout changed by DVD-Remake.. Always buffer-overflow.. Anyone got an Idea?

I picked up the Region 1 version of that movie yesterday. I'll try a backup tonight and see what I find.

Just FYI: Normally a "Buffer Overflow" means the source is corrupt and typically only happens when edited by a third party package... You mentioned using DVD ReMake -- any other pre or post processing?

I also tried it with "untouched" Source...

I just backed up this movie R1 but I preprocess with Shrink and PGCEdit and FixVts before input to DVD-RB Pro 1.10.3. Just finish processing. I tried it on MPlayer Classic and PowerDVD everything seems to play fine so far including the options at choose their fate (ILVU & angle sections). Rebuilder GREAT APP.

Of course DVD-RB ist a great fantastic App ;)

Ok. I ran it last night. No buffer overflows or "Error 9". I ripped it to an ISO using AnyDVD. The ripper was DVD Decrypter (just to create an ISO).

Next I'll try the ripper built into AnyDVD. But before that I'm going to test playback with PowerDVD.

[Later] Ok. I tried the steps described by JFerguson in the first post -- I get the same result as he did (the selection didn't return to the previous decision point) in PowerDVD 6.0. I'll test it on the standalone next.

[Edit] Same problem on the standalone. Something is definitely wrong that gets reflected in this DVD. I'll see what I can find.

Okay, i ripped it with AnyDVD built-in Ripper... This is what the Layout of the rc2 looks like... Will run a fast two pass on this in a couple of minutes and then report back again..

[QUOTE=JFerguson]

I am sure I checked this also in PowerDVD and it palyed alright. However I will burn it later and report back. I rip with Rit4me.

masscamp24,

You're results do not count because you preprocessed! :p

They are interesting though. I've actually found that some movies, with extra titlesets (ArcCos and/or Puppetlock?), can be "cleaned up" by running them through DVD Shrink first.

In fact, for these movies, mkisofs does not like this:

AnyDVD/DVD Decrypter .iso -> VobBlanker v2.1.1.0 -> mkisofs.exe -> error

but has no problem with this:

AnyDVD/DVD Decrypter .iso -> DVD Shrink v3.2 (@ 100%) -> VobBlanker v2.1.1.0 -> mkisofs.exe -> success

Good Morning,

thank you all for help and your tips, but it seems like my Disc was damaged (though the disc is not scratched). Picked up another one, and hey what should I say, runs fine.. :D

Should we give this another try with 1.10.4?

I don't think it will make a difference except possibly out of sheer luck. I'm still looking at that disc/problem.

It's odd that they all work except that one...

Don't forget that it failed for me to, that makes 2...

I'm going to get another copy now, will report back in one to two days.

I don't think you read it properly. I meant that all the "coin flip" selections work on the disc except for that one. I can repeat it too...

JFerguson
23rd August 2006, 22:48
Oh, I didn't know it was just the one that didn't work. Although, I had more problems than just the jump out of the credits -- stuttering, time map, etc...

I'll just sit on this one until we hear otherwise.

jdobbs

Hmm... That was the only problem when I did the disc... you may want to try it again.

FYI -- Just tried this with 1.10.5 - no change...

FYI - I had a problem with this disc several weeks ago. It is a dodging disc byt I did get it working fine with RB. Refer to my post here.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p=1503537&postcount=16

Also I discovered that using sw player, as long as I used chapter navigation it behaved well. If I tried to use the navigation bar to advance the movie an arbitrary amount, it often times seemed to jump to strange places and other oddities as mentioned in earlier posts.

C'mon guys -- I heard you. As I said, I know there is a problem with that disc. I haven't found the cause yet, but I'm working it. Posting over-and-over isn't helping anything.

@Jack'n'xbox
@JFerguson

Well I've found at least part of what's causing this problem with "Final Destination 3". DVD-RB thinks it sees layer_breaks that aren't there. Could you try something? Add this line:

LAYER_BREAK_REMOVAL=0

to the "[Options]" area of the REBUILDER.INI file and try the REBUILD again.

[Edit] I've made some changes to the layer_break routines that corrects this issue. It'll be in the next release.

JFerguson

Do we need to encode too, or just rebuild the files?

Never mind, looks like just a rebuild - I'm testing now...

Jack'n'xbox
28th August 2006, 21:49
Two questions first,

Do I put that line right under "options" or is there a different place that it should go?

and

I did not keep the old files for the rebuild can I start from new? I think that we have to, right?

Thank you
