I am trying to burn avi files to DVD using Nero 7 (Nero vision) when I tried using my Philips SPD2400 I have have had a few failed burns.I swapped the DVDRW back to my old PHILIPS DVDR824DP and burned a avi film onto a DVD+RW worked no problem.I then tried the Arta DVD-R using Nero vision it was ok till it got near the end and it failed.I have used both writers before without problems. Can anyone shed any light on this

What you are saying is the old burner works but the new one does not.
First thing what media are you using?
Are you doing other things on your computer while burning?
What speed are you writing at? Old vs. new
Computer specs?
Try burning at the slowest possible settings. Try other media if you can. Make sure you have the buffer enabled and see if it drops off during the writing.
Failed burns often mean media or burner problems. Media is easy, get new ones. Burner requires some troubleshooting.
Let us know if you see any result.

This problem has been resolved. Not sure if the upgrade in ram from 512 to 1gb started it but there was a configuration prob rom was set as master and rw as slave.I also think there is a prob with the Philips SPD2400.I have put the old Philips back in which is now master and seems to be working fine .Thanks for help

Hi!I then tried the Arta DVD-RIs "Arta" a brand of media or the name of a DVD burner?
If it's a brand of media, you might want to try using higher quality media, such as Verbatim, SONY, or Maxell...

Arta are the brand of 8x DVD-R disc's that I was using. Now that I have swopped back to the PHILIPS DVDR824DP everything seems to be ok.
Thanks for all your help. :thanks:
