Hi all

long time reader of these boards and found a wealth of info :D

anyways, at the moment i convert all my 1080i .TS files to 720 DivX as that is the native output of my projector (also the smaller size is much friendlier when i stream the file from my computer to my DVD player)

I notice nearly all of you use avisynth to feed the file to Vdub mod, is this purly to make use of filters? because i currently use HDTV2Mpeg to convert the file to mpeg2 then just import it to Vdub like that.

Is there a reason that i should not be doing this, the output seems pretty good with this method so am i missing something?

It's just a different method of doing it. Avisynth allows for more flexibility in processing the source video, but if you get acceptable quality out of your current method then there's no reason why you shouldn't use it (unless you ever decide you want to make use of Avisynth's processing capabilities, of course, and then you can change methods).

Thanks that was what i was hoping to hear.

I do use avisynth on occasion (mainly to IVTC) and would be interested in learning more about any filters that poeple are finding especially usefull when dealing with HD sources.
