1 word about curve compression:

I've also experienced an undersized 2nd pass file due to curve compression. Guaranteed (I suppose), statsreader determines bigger value from the 1st-pass stats file than the target size in 2nd-pass. I did another 2nd-pass encoding with the same .stats with CC=0/0 and got no undersizing.
I use CC=5/5 - and very rarely I come into such problem.
My solution is "another preset".

If you've used the 'XviD presets', then the undersizing is due to the presets (or rather: due to the way the preset combined CC and restricted quantizers), not due to curve compression. Should I move your post to the XviD presets thread?

If you are talking about the presets, which preset did you use?

Move it if you wish. I started a new thread because I don't use your presets as they are. I used your thread to get the main idea of presets and altered your ones to fit my needs. I could post my presets if anyone is interested.

p.s. undersizing is very rare indeed; actually I got it only twice with my presets and is below 1% (and may depend on the content compressibility) - so it's not a problem
