Please keep this thread clean. So, no

* War about the file list features.
* War about Matroska support.

Thanks.

It's really a shame about no matroska support. There is really no way to change your mind? I'm currently investigating into encoding a file and audio and will later, when finished, test merging into a matroska container. I could help you get it right IF you want. I'll respect your wish if you say no.

Lain said eariler that he will do an interface to batch convert MP4 to MKV, with surely more options than what RA does.

Okay, sounds good to me, then.

ToDo for RA5 alpha 2:

* Remove fancy list, gonna use normal list + color
* Remove Matroska output support
* Remove MPC
* Remove ffdshow
* Remove avisynth
* Remove helix codecs
* Remove DirectVobSub
* Remove Haali splitter

why don't you remove realanime5 aswell?

Sirber
1st August 2006, 19:41
Do you like 24MB installers?
With all that removed, the installer shall be around 6 MB.

Also, I'm pretty sure you already have those so...

Eretria-chan
1st August 2006, 19:45
Of all those, I can say I don't have MPC. What is Helix Codecs anyway?
On a side note, you DO know that the installer leaves all those installation files in RA's direcotry, yes? They just lie there like useless files and take up space.

Sirber
1st August 2006, 20:06
Helix Codecs are YUV/"something else" used to decode the output of AVS so x264 can read it... or is it the player...

karl_lillevold
1st August 2006, 20:09
Pretty well explained here:
Helix YV12 / I420 VFW Codecs (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56972)

Eretria-chan
1st August 2006, 20:40
Ah, so I take it it is needed for the ConvertToYV12 statement in the avisynth file.

Sirber
1st August 2006, 20:54
no, IIRC it was to playback AVS in MPC since I didn't have xvid_vfw.dll.
ConvertToYV12 is for x264

Eretria-chan
1st August 2006, 21:02
It did say there was no library for YV12 for compression. I was just figuring if it was necessary to have Helix installed when using RA. Although I already have it installed, would it work if it was uninstalled later, since it will be removed from the installer?

1. why is your homepage down and there is just a white html with dls ?

2. okay I understand what you mean and when it just lays useless there then its better to remove them and anyways 6mb is a great installer (compared to the other RA's installers)

3. could you add a "shutdown" option to RA5 ? like when I go to holidays and I have 200eps animes to encode and I don't want to keep running the pc for 6 weeks but just for as long as the encode needs. Would that be "madeable" ?

anyways just keep up the great work and thank you for inventing such a ingenious app :D

1. why is your homepage down and there is just a white html with dls ?No more fancyness and useless time spending. I found a new hobby, which is photography! :D So less sitting in front of the PC, less time for dev.

[edit]

it's no html, it's XHTML Strict 1.0 :sly:

With all the crap removed the installer is 3.56MB :D

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 02:23
Alright, beer and coding is good. look at all the green above :D
I'm sure we can get alpha 2 soon once the filelist is rebuilt.

@all

I truely appreciate all the good words I got from you guys. Keeps me going :D

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 02:28
alright, I feel like a CVS dump :D

Thanks again for your kind words :D

I'm gonna test it :)... Today I ran tests on RA5 Alpha 1 and it did pretty good for my sources, the only problem I spotted was the file list but it's going to be changed so nothing to report...
Thanks as always for your work Sirber!

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 12:07
I added the missing DLL to the installer.

MSVCP70.DLL is needed by avs2wav and not everybody has it.

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 12:22
Has anyone got the audio delay bug (as in RA4) ?

Eretria-chan
2nd August 2006, 12:59
Good work! I'll test it when I have time!

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 13:06
well, nothing much changed. Only some cleanup :)

Eretria-chan
2nd August 2006, 14:37
I'll have you know that your GUI was always my favorite anyway :D
Of course, I'm doing research on my own and I'm pretty close to constructing an own GUI (with some limitations, of course), but your GUI has always been nice.

cool for you but ne want realanime 5 :P

it's no html, it's XHTML Strict 1.0 :sly:
I dont care but it's just black and white and I can't give a comment or things like that and that's sad to me -.-

cool! glad you like the idea
I'm happy anyways that you develop it and make it better and better.

yes, how to put it in GUI is .... maybe in Output tab?

how about like in RealAnime4.2.0 ? just a drop-down would be nice ;-)

thanks! :D
fame to the one who deserves the fame ;-)

Sirber

YouDontKnowMe
2nd August 2006, 15:38
I don't know if you can do that or how much time it would take to code but could you do a "task-priority" and (I sleep about) a few other brandnew options then you could do a misc tab and could store this kind of things there.
And the idea of an auto-updater ist the best but make sure to let the opinion to switch it off for example when I encode on an pc that doesn't got internet.

"RealAnime 5... faster as your mother's car"

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 15:48
RA5's default is IDLE which is best in most case. At normal or more, it doesn't encode faster and makes the PC laggy.
Unless you have a pretty good reason to use normal, I won't add the option. and by pretty I mean really really pretty :sly:

The auto updater will be external to RA5, and it will be made by Lain... if he does it.

YouDontKnowMe
2nd August 2006, 15:51
sorry the main important thing I just forgot to say xD
could you do "switch-able" and "addable" language files ?
half-way-like xanime (where you have the opinion to francaise or english) but not in a DB but in a xml file. And like me (I'm turkish) who want to translate it to its native-language. (I just say my ideas if you do it or like it is a other) lets say there is a folder "lang" and there are standart 2 xml:
1. english.xml
2. francaise.xml

then I just open the english.xml translate everyting to the language I want and save as... turkish.xml

then there are 3 files.
1. english.xml
2. francaise.xml
3. turkish.xml

at start-up realanime loads the list of all xml files in the folder "lang" and you can chose in "language" (can this add to misc aswall) the language you want to use realanime ;-)

just my 2 cents :D

Eretria-chan
2nd August 2006, 15:53
Language options are such a pain in the ass to code, I doubt Sirber will do it. But let's hear it from Sirber self, how it will be.

LAIN
2nd August 2006, 15:53
The auto updater will be external to RA5, and it will be made by Lain... if he does it.

I'm on it, after fixing few stuff on RA5 before... but i need to get few stuff from the job done before!!! working on the implementation of a cluster is not so easy when you never done it before!!! i will probably finish RA5 fixes this week, it would be nice to have alpha2 for next w-e ;)

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 15:54
could you do "switch-able" and "addable" language files ?Could do, but with .ini.
just my 2 cents :DYou can donate those ;)
Language options are such a pain in the ass to code, I doubt Sirber will do it. But let's hear it from Sirber self.As painly as LoadXML :), which is painier :D

YouDontKnowMe
2nd August 2006, 15:57
ini is fine aswell ;-)

when realanime5 is out I will donate a little amount for your hard work ;-)

Sirber

2 cents, paypal charge me 1$ ;)

YouDontKnowMe

Bah! Delphi and their stupid solutions.
You have to change the strings of all the controls / texts / messages. As I sad, pain in the ass.

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 16:08
Bah! Delphi and their stupid solutions.
You have to change the strings of all the controls / texts / messages. As I sad, pain in the ass.bah, I did that for RA3 already, which I dropped in RA4 coz I can't update 12 language by myself ;)

Eretria-chan
2nd August 2006, 16:12
Go ahead. Let users send your charity languages and update them themselves or it will be too much work for you, huh?

Sirber
2nd August 2006, 16:14
stop the sarcasims.

language selection moved to RA5.1, when I will not change GUI things often.

Eretria-chan
2nd August 2006, 18:56
I mean it. If something changes, you can always ask whoever does the language to update it when needed. Good luck.

Concerning the audio delay issue, I noticed improvement in lots of sources that were troublesome before (specially in Higurashi), but I still notice it in Major 34 and 37 for example... I haven't had time to test with lots of sources though

Sirber
3rd August 2006, 00:20
Continu on error done.

Sirber
3rd August 2006, 01:55
I think I forgot a feature someone asked... d*mn :(

[edit]

found it! remove "encoded frames: " from the logs :D

YouDontKnowMe
3rd August 2006, 15:25
and just a real big thing again. we need a bitrate calculator aswell. (just saw it when I compared 5.0.0a1 with 4.2.0)

hope you can add this feature aswell in RealAnime 5.0.0.a2 :thanks:

EDIT:

A Screenshot of how I mean it to add

Sirber
3rd August 2006, 15:34
alright.

gonna add the one from RA4 with some modifs to calculate the oversize of MP4.

YouDontKnowMe
3rd August 2006, 15:45
hehe thanxs to you to take the time and hear our oppinions and feature request's :D

Sirber
3rd August 2006, 15:48
no problem. do you know what is the oversize for MP4?

later on, I could use MB instead of KBPS to have constant filesize.

but I need to know MP4 oversize, source length, bitrates.

the only thing missing is MP4 info.

[edit]

the right term is "overhead" :)

YouDontKnowMe
3rd August 2006, 15:54
I dont know but there will be 100% one who knows it :D

Sirber
