i need a matrix that is good when makeing one cd.i want a matrix that has good quality and speed. i'm going to only make 1 cd encodes or less. so what matrix do you recommend? and how do i add a matrix into xvid? and how do i add profiles into xvid?

i'm useing virtualdub-mpeag2.

Most questions you asked have been asked and answered before many, many times. Search is your friend.

As some of the answers are complicated I'm only gonna answer the simple questions and ask you to use the search function and read the FAQs for the rest of them.


The answer to the choice of matrix question depends on resolution and other factors, use search to find out more.
Still, Sharktooth's EQMv3 ULR might be a good choice for you. Also Javor's 1CD matrix could interest you.
CQMs have NO notable influence on encoding speed.
You can't add profiles to XviD at all. You can add profiles to MeGUI by choosing 'import profiles' from the menu; perhaps you meant that.

So you have can load or save matrix using

Video->Compression->Xvid MPEG-4 Codec->Profile@Level (press more...) -> Quantization type (select MPEG-Custom)->Edit Matrix...->Load matrix... and here you can select location and file to load matrix or press Save matrix... and select location and filename to save your matrix.

Edit. For a first pass at a fixed quantizer, define a zone in XviD's zone-tab and set it to a constant quantizer.

ok sir sorry. i have converted as in your preset. but i there is one problem i set the size to 350mb in xvids bitrate calculator but when i converted the video i got 403mb. the file got oversized what do you think the problem is.

i converted a 700mb xvid movie.

Did you think of calculating audio-bitrate?

Repeat the calculation with Gordian Knot which is the more precise bitrate calculator.

If that isn't the reason you probably hit the maximum-allowed quantizer for that preset. Reduce resolution. You can perform an Enc comp.check - as described in that thread - to prevent that in your future encodings.

i don't have gordian knot cuz i'm useing vdub. i made a 2pass encode and i followed your guide 'fast, extreme compression'.

in vdub i choosed fast recompress

The only better thing for such bitrates is a different codec: x264.
