i got a wmv movie and i want to convert it to divx 6 with the best possible quality. i want to convert the movie so i can watch it on my dvd player.so what tool should i use?

no this is not warez. it's a free legal movie. my friend has made.
i want a good tool so what should i use? what do you software do you recommend i want good quality and speed for my movie.

For a DivX 6 encode, you need to use DivX:

yes i know but what converter should i use money is no problem for me so i can buy anything up to 1000$

VirtualDub is a good free option.

yeah sir vdub and super are to slow on my computer and i often get errors. do you know other software that is fast,great quality and user friendly. and i have a question about divx converter. do you know if divx converter makes 1 pass or 2passes? cuz i can not choose

one more thing i need a converter that i can write the max file size not like vdub. in vdub you must calulate the size and find out the bitrate audio bit rate and other stuff. i want something that makes that thing auto. i want a thing like nero recode but i need to convert to divx.

Oh man, you better learn how to calculate the bitrate, or at least get a bitrate calculator (DivX has a built-in one anyway).
Because if you don't know how to calculate it, you'll have a hard time understanding things that are more complicated!

A longer way to do this WMV2DivX conversion is to load the WMV in TMPG, encode it to MPEG2, and then proceed as if you were going to convert a DVD to DivX. May be that can go without crashes on your PC...

TMPG can convert WMV directly to Divx.

i'm useing vdub mpeag2 mod.

and what settings is good to choose?
what is thre diffrence between 2 passes and costant quality mode. which one is better in terms of quality and speed?

i have used 1 pass quality mode but what quantizer should i use?

should i have noise redution?'
should i have shaping or masking option on?
and should i have enhance texture?
and what resize filter should i use like lanczos4?
should i have enhanced multireading?

this is my last questons plz answer quick so i can convert my file

For the 2nd pass (and futher passes) use multipass Nth pass
Resize filter is a matter of preferance, but i will add that lanczos4 is alot slower than the other 3.

Multithreading shuld be used on dual core systems as it speeds up resizing.

your questions about noise reduction,PVE and enchance texture are answered in the divx user guide available on the divx website.

Using these options depends on how much time you wish to spend encoding and if you like the effect they have on output.
