How to rip a segment of video clip from VCD and save it as mpeg 1 file?

I know that I can use Virtualdub to rip a segment of video from VCD, but can only save it as AVI. How can I save it as Mpeg 1 file?

It's already in MPEG-1 format. Just use the same software you used to create the VCD to extract the MPEG-1 video from it...

samvcd: You can't. Use cutterman. Or maybe avidemux, but I doubt it.

setarip: how would a random mpeg encoder help you cut vcd streams? The vast majority of vcd encoders either wouldn't reimport it or would do it via recompression.

I use VCDGear to convert to regular MPEG system and TMPGEnc 2.5 to extract specific segments of the mpeg stream (File >> MPEG Tools >> Merge & Cut).

Thanks a lot for your help. I just found out that I can use VCDeasy to extract each .dat files from VCD and save it as MPEG-1 video on HD.
