I thought I saw a thread somewhere on the net that said they imported a WMV into VDUB. Is that possible? I've tried it and get that error message about Microsoft copyrights, etc.

I don't think were allowed to talk about that. Anyway check out this pic.

VDUB-mpeg2 doesn't take snapshots? Bummer.

Snapshots as in copying the frames to clipboard? It does. Same menu options as in VirtualDubMoD. Where are you looking?

I imported WMV (24.684 fps) w/o ConvertFPS and VDUB-MPEG tells me the frame rate = 30 fps. How can that be?

It is probably because your WMV file is VFR (Variable Frame Rate). Try doing DirectShowSource("yourfile.wmv", fps=23.976) since you say your file is 24.684 fps (how did you determine this anyway?). But whatever you are trying to do with this file, chances are you might get out of sync video because of this VFR thingy. You are better off using AsfTools for editing this.
These 2 threads makes for some interesting reading about WMV in VirtualDub-MPEG2 issues:

I used AVICodec. They are out-of-synch. Doesn't matter, I'll split the streams and put them together manually. Thanks for info.

I think there is the same post which is posted before and by me :D
If you use Avisynth, you add flag convertfps=true for DirectShowSource function
ex : directshowsource("c:\mmemem.wmv", fps=23.97 , convertfps=true)
If you dont use Avisynth( import wmv into VD directly), you should use menu video/framerate and "change so video and audio ...match.." , and menu audio/conversion, choose a approriate value for "audio skew..."
Good luck!

If the video is 24.684 shouldn't you use ConvertFPS(24.684)? Why 23.976?
If you use Convertfps you will introduce blurring (default=blend mode)? Anyway to get around this? I tried blend and switch mode and didn't get any blurring in switch mode but I'm not sure what to set "zone" equal to. Manual says set zone=< 5/6 or 6/5 of frame height. My clip is 640x360 so I set zone= 300 (or 5/6) and I had some artifacts. Manual says switch mode is for TV playback.
