Hello readers.

I capture tv shows and then encode them into avi's.

My one problem is that the initial capture is in Black & White for some reason i do not know.

This is the card that i have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815276002

Is it the set up of the Virtual Dub(Cole2k Media - Video Dub Pack)?

I really dont know what else to list. I suppose my set-up( tv, cables, pc, connection...) would help but dont know. If you guys have the time please reply and give me a couple of tips on why this is occuring. Thanks

Hi!I suppose my set-up( tv, cables, pc, connection...) would help but dont know. This information, plus stating whether you're in the NTSC world or PAL world, would be most beneficial...

I'm gonna take a guess. You have a composite cable hooked to your card but your card is set to S-Video? Go into your settings and set it up to "Composite".

Hey

That didnt work.

Im in the U.S, and have an analog television system(NTSC). My setup consists of tv, vcr/dvd, cable box

They are connected:
There is a cable wire that comes out of the floor, its connected to the vcr/dvd, from there the vcr/dvd is connected to the cable box and the cable box connects to the tv.

When i connect the tv tuner i connect the cable cord in place of the cord that is connected to the vcr/dvd. The cable cord that i use is black and came from a satelite dish installer.

Through out the connection, there are no composite connections, some s-composite connections but only for dvd/vrc for sound and picture. These cords connect to vcr/dvd - tv.

i tried connecting the ground cable directly to the card, that didnt work
i tried connecting the cable, pc-to-cable box, that didnt work.
i tried connecting the wire from the dish intstaller with a splitter to the cable box, and that didnt work as well.

its either the card, settings or the cable that i got from the dish installer

Other than trying a different type of cable, it looks like the one thing you haven't yet tried is connecting your capture card through the VCR...

I notice the Newegg reviews for that card are unspectacular. So it could be the card.

Settings wise, the only things I have known to cause this are the Composite/S-video setting, which we have ruled out, or the NTSC/PAL settings.

If there is a setting for this, check it. However, not all cards let you change this. I bought a PowerColor card here in the UK (PAL territory) which only captures in NTSC! I have to manually tweak the WDM driver to PAL.

On that note, try downloading this tiny file
http://www.asvzzz.com/other/VideoWDMControl.zip

Run the app and click on Video Capture Filter. Set it to NTSC_M and try running VDub again.
