Hi,

I'm currently looking at various SVHS pro-decks to integrate into Digital Restoration system that I'm currently drawing up the specifications for.

I have £2000 (approx $3700). I may stretch this to £3000 (approx $5500). This figure has to encompass building a new PC from scratch, as well as decks (initially I'm just after S-VHS and Mini-DV). Anyway, as far as nailing the SVHS deck, I'm having difficulty as most (if not all) of the pro-deck have been discontinued in the UK. I was quite interested in the JVC SRV10EK, but apparentely this is no longer available. Can't find any resellers who have it in stock either. My attentions have turned to eBay, therefore, though I'm not keen on second hand stuff due to head wear, etc. I stumbled across these, however, and like I said I'm in need of a Mini-DV deck as well (though not so keen on combo's):-

It's the HR-DVS1EK. Does anybody know if this item includes TBC, DNR, edge enhancement or video calibration for playback of VHS and S-VHS tapes?

This is the JVC HM-DR10000EK. This does include TBC and DNR at least. Anyone know if this offers edge enhancement or video calibration? Does the price seem a bit hefty (I live in the UK)?

Any thoughts would be greately appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob.

I would choose the second one listed. The other combo unit will have something left out since they are the same price.

Video calabration is common to highend JVC units. It adjusts for both recored-playback charactoristics of different tape manafactures and grades of tapes.

It could be as simple as the D-VHS replaced by the Mini-DV. I have no use for D-VHS anyway.

I've emailed the seller and both have the essentials: TBC, DNR, Edge Enhancement and so on.

Maybe they can help you there?

Thanks, already have dropped them an email. No word as yet.

Anyone know about the compatability of German electronic products in the UK. I'd imagine they are fine? Also, is the same version of PAL in use?

Found this on eBay:-

No problem, except for the RF tuner.
But you're not going to use the vcr to record TV programs
over the RF input anyway, i reckon.

Provided you use good quality tapes you should be able to obtain faithful stable colours and good clean image quality.
