How to change video DAR in MPC or WMPlayer ?

Changing the Display Aspect Ratio is sometimes needed for videos with a significant AR error or when one has encoded the video wrongly.

PowerDVD can change the displayed AR when one unchecks the Lock AR feature. BSPlayer can do it; ZoomPlayer can do this. VLC can also do this, but for some videos the controls are unavailable (I could never figure out why).

I looked in the WMP plugins site, but couldn't discover any plug-in that will address this issue.

D'you have any information regarding how to change the aspect ratio of displayed video in Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player?

Don't believe you can. What you can do, is set the AR in ffdshow's resize and stretch it there. It's not perfect, since it burns a lot of cpu cycles, but it works at least.

In MPC you can change aspect ration from the menu: View --> Video Frame --> Override Aspect Ratio.

In WMP, besides the ffdshow solution, you can change the AR for files decoded by the DivX decoder (in the decoder configuration)

In ffdshow, video decoder configuration -> Resize & aspect.
In DivX decoder, Decoder Configuration Utility -> check Use advanced hardware overlay -> Aspect Ratio.

Wasn't mentioned yet, but in case you are using the XviD decoder, Configure Decoder -> Aspect Ratio (down at the bottom).
