I use Tomsmocomp for deinterlacing, it works the best for the majority of clips. (I try to stay away from any deinterlacer with blending.) I have clips that still have jaggies after I encode. It doesn't seem to matter what Searcheffort I use (-1 to 15) and the smaller I resize (I resize from 720x480 to 640x480 or 512x384) the jaggies get bigger. I resize to save file size and using current version of XviD. Suggestions?

Provide an unprocessed sample clip.

Your source could be telecined and not interlaced - have you tried IVTC?

Telecine and combing are two different things but telecine can be combed, correct? Is it possible for telecine to be combed in every frame?

I found this definition at Afterdawn:
As movies are normally shot using 24.00fps framerate and American TV system, NTSC, uses framerate of 29.97fps, movie framerates need to be changed in order to get them play smoothly on TV.

This process, where studios add additional frames to the picture in order to increase the framerate, is called telecine. Process where various video editing tools reverse this process is called inverse telecine.

Telecine can have combed frames, yes. But if every frame is combed, then it is not telecined, but true interlaced. Then you were right in deinterlacing it. Had it been standard telecined, it should follow the pattern of 3 progressive frames followed by 2 interlaced frames like: pppiipppiipppii. Even if everything seems interlaced, keep your eyes peeled for progressive frames just in case it was just badly telecined. Check the section TO IVTC OR TO DEINTERLACE in this (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm) guide for more info.

Provide us a sample and the script you used, as asked please. From past experience, I'd be surprised if you did, though.
