Hi, I bought Nero 7 Premium on CD. Problem is: I open ProductSetup, it tries to access the internet (as it includes the update function). Pop-up says: FTP not possible, try HTTP. I confirm, comes Dr Watson post-mortem debugger, says "no internet access". Then ProductSetup cannot be opened any longer. I un/reinstall Nero: ProductSetup works again, but then as above (Dr Watson etc.). Info: XP Pro as admin, I do have access to the internet of course (ISDN), everything allowed in ZoneAlarm & BitDefender, even their deactivation will not help. Neither will lowered internet security settings. Please do not suggest a work-around (as there is of course a work-around: whatever ProductSetup can do, can also be done "manually"). It's rather that I simply want to find out what that goddam Nero ProductSetup doesn't like about my system. Thx.

It seems your computer will not run the ProductSetup program properly for one reason or another. I do not think this has anything to do with you internet connection of firewall; more like an installer problem.

I will not suggest a work around but will post one for anyone who wishes to read on.

This might help;

Download the latest Nero 7 Ultra Edition Update – Choose from the options below:

Option 1 (Recommended) - If you want to update your Nero 7 Ultra Edition installed on this PC please launch the Nero ProductSetup for the most convenient update.

Option 2 - If you don't have an internet connection at the PC you want to update your Nero 7 Ultra Edition please download the offline installer here.

Download the offline installer and enter your key when prompted.

I also own Nero and also have had 'issues' with the ProductSetup program. My main 'issue' has been that on 2 different occasions I ended up with 2 Nero's. One became partially install, not runnable, and the other a real install. In add/remove programs, the partial one would not un-install or leave the add/remove programs list.

My best experience always has been to un-install and download the whole thing again.

Smaller 'issues' have come up but this one just 'bugged' me the most. I really believe they do need to work on it some more.
