cce sp 2.5 "Encoding Failed:" -- related to Microsoft July update?

I have never had a problem encoding with cce sp 2.5 and all of a sudden I get this error message at some point in the encoding process: "Encoding Failed:"--with no further explanation. It has been suggested to me that it may be related to the latest Windows Update. Specifically perhaps surrounding the "malicious software removal tool." Does this "tool" disable encoding programs because they use heavy computer resources for a long time and perhaps tag them as malware. Anyone else had this problem?

Generally a tool like that would find software malicious as soon as or immediately after its loaded. so its not likely that is the cause. The description of the software on its website indicates it works like antivirus. it targets software in its known data base. it doesnt 'determine' if software is malicious by its behavior. try to think of other recent changes you have made that may have caused an issue. also make sure pc isnt overheating (make sure cpu and chipset fans are free of dust.. etc)

I eliminated the MS Update as I think it was causing some issues. I also cleaned the dust from all fans, defraged the HD, and cleaned the registry, re-installed CCE and Avisynth. Now I don't get the error message as previously stated, however now the computer just freezes at some point in the encoding process. As far as I can tell the CPU is at 89-90 degrees F while it is encoding.

Freezing during encoding... error messages during encoding... You're aware of what your CPU's opperational temperature is...

Just a guess, but are you overclocking? ;) I won't jump on the bandwagon and tell you that overclocking is bad; I've experimented with it and didn't draw that conclusion. But at certain points, CCE seems to reveal the limitations of your chipset and CPU's timing better than many of the benchmark tests seem to. You might try backing off of it just a tad and see if that effects your results.

I am not really sure if it was a heat related issue that was causing my machine to malfunction or some kind of problem with certain programs working properly after the last Microsoft patch. I have removed all suspect dlls and such from recent Microsoft patches that may have been causing issues. Everything works fine now.
