View Full Version : YV12 Colorspace in VDubMod
I have created an AviSynth script which outputs video in YV12 colorspace. It doesn't look optimal in VirtualDubMod (mainly red parts of the picture). I read it's because the upconversion to RGB is incorrectly handled by ATI codec. Will the same upconversion to RGB take place during encoding to XviD? Or is it possible to directly feed YV12 to XviD codec?

Only the new versions of vdub use other colorspaces besides RGB. Vdubmod is based on older versions.

If you set Virtual Dub Mod to Video->'Fast Recompress' Virtual Dub will give the avs Yv12 content directly to Xvid so no Yv12->RGB convertion during encoding. Sidenode: activating 'Fast Recompress' disables the ability to use Filters in Virtual Dub Mod, since this woult require a Yv12->RGB convertion.

Thank you for replies. I will use Fast Recompress then as AviSynth takes care of all the filtering.
