View Full Version : [QUESTION] Multiple XviD into ONE BLAND DVD

I have 6 700MB XviD files that I want to copy to ONE BLANK DVD. I want to burn the DVD in DVD-Video format. My DVD player is not MPEG-4 Compatible/DivX certified. I don't mind losing the quality when I convert from XviD to DVD-Video format. How do I do it though? I was only able to find a way to burn only 1 XviD per 1 blank DVD. I want to burn 6 (less or more) XviD with less quality to 1 Blank DVD. In another words, I want each one of 700MB XviD file to be each chapter.
PS: Don't recommend me to buy $50 Philips DivX certified DVD player. Don't tell me how to just burn the XviD files to blank DVD without any conversion because that won't be playable with standard DVD players.

i dont think the quality will be acceptable...
in other words it will look like C.R.A.P.(tm).

Any THOUGHTS/OPINIONS are not interested.
Well.. this is a forum, not a church.. he was simply trying to say you that the output would be really terrible (imo too).
BTW.. you didn't say the total length and the resolution of the xvid files, so it's difficult to help you.

If you want to watch at flat squares moving then you can use any DVD authoring software. For example Nero Vision can convert multiple videos to DVD Video...
At that point i would prefer to convert the audio into CD and use winamp visualization effects to at least watch something interesting...

How many hours of MPEG-2 on a 4.3 GB disc will that be? 10-12 hours? Dude...
Be that as may be, wrong subforum. This is a job for DVD2SVCD. --> moved

First, I want facts. Opinions/thoughts are not useful to me.

Above might be what I need to know but then I need to know how to convert XviD into VCD MPEG.

Fact: placing 10-12 hours of non-still video onto a DVD is a dumb idea ;)
Fact: source file size means nothing...it is the length (mostly) that is relevant. 6 x 42 mins, say, is feasible.
Fact: when placing lots of mins on DVD, you may want to use half-D1 (352 x 576/480).
Fact: when placing lots of mins on dvds, it is a good idea to use a higher end encoder, e.g. CCE.
Fact: DVD2SVCD can be used to encode each XviD individually, after which the assets may be authored (e.g. using DVDlab).
Fact: placing fact in front of something does not make it a fact.

uses tmpgenc, it has a vcd template or CTRL+W
word of wisdom (not to be confused with THOUGHTS/OPINIONS):
that link was meant for vcd -> dvd, not divx/vxid -> vcd -> dvd (potato, po-ta-toe), judging from your replys, your biggest problem would be lack of experience, baby steps
suggestion:
make sure you have a fast computer, cause it's not that fun spending 2x the length movie just to find out you encodes are out-of-sync or 2 days spent to find out it doesn't work on your dvd player (cause that would have to be the dumpest thing ever) remember: baby steps

You could try my tool:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=106677
Just load the files and click a button.
@neuron2: roger, just a long day at work..

You want facts, and this is correct, but you haven't still said anything about the source files.
BTW, I agree with post #10 by Mattew.

@DepecheNYC
Hi!I have 6 700MB XviD files that I want to copy to ONE BLANK DVD.The fact of the matter is that you simply CANNOT realistically convert an estimated 9 hours (6x90 minutes) of XviD-compressed .AVI movies to DVD-compliant format and expect it to fit on one DVD5 (single-layered) media
If you insist on "seeing for yourself" feel free to try the following:
1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert each of the .AVIs (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this
2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6 (a different program than
"TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)
You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:
http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html
(Load each of your DVD-compliant MPEG2 files by selecting "Add new track")
**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress
If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use
"DVDLab")
Let us know of your success ;>}

Use SVCD2DVD. Quick and simple.
