What's the difference between these two types of monitors?
Are they interchangable?
Will a VGA monitor be sufficient if my Adobe Premeire Elements 2.0 calls for an XGA monitor?
I'll already bought both the monitor and the software.

Well, I don't think true VGA monitors still exist, I mean VGA means 640x480 resolution, and all monitors available on the market today support at least 1024x768, which is XGA.
So you shouldn't worry about your monitor ;)

The term VGA is often used to refer to a resolution of 640×480, regardless of the hardware that produces the picture. It may also refer to the 15-pin D-subminiature VGA connector which is still widely used to carry analog video signals of all resolutions.
VGA was officially superseded by IBM's XGA standard, but in reality it was superseded by numerous extensions to VGA made by clone manufacturers that came to be known as "Super VGA".

XGA, the Extended Graphics Array, is an IBM display standard introduced in 1990. Today, it is best known as a synonym for the 1024 × 768 pixels display resolution, but the official definition is broader than that. It was not a new and improved replacement for Super VGA, but rather became one particular subset of the broad range of capabilities covered under the "Super VGA" umbrella.
Thanks to wikipedia for the information.

Does that help? I do not think it will impact anything other then the quality of image. Are you buying a LCD?
