View Full Version : Further explanations on "Priss Rocks!"

Hi guys,

I would question two things about Virtualdubmod.
I looked around a lot on this forum, to avoid questions that have already be done.

The reason I'm writing here lies in the fact that I'm near to make a couple of tips on how to behave in case of handling VBR MP3 in AVIS.

I try to make it short:
1. I would explain the usage of "Priss Rocks!"
I know well when to use it, but I've made a research, tracing it's origins through "log files" and I could't understand a few things:
- using PRISS, VDMod is able to play VBR in it, but before its inclusion seems that the program didn't have problems with 'em. Namely I tried with 1.4.13.2v2 version. This make me doubt on the fact that PRISS was aimed to enable VBR playing.
It seems, reading the logs, that his enabling at the same time corrects some problems with layer I/III streams but, simultaneously, generates bugs in the implemantation of external ACM. So, what's the matter with it?
Moreover, if I uninstall XviD and enable ffdshow, VDMod works fine. It seems, in additon to the manual definition, that the bug is more specifically localized in the difficulty of implementing, simultaneously, XviD and ACM on reproducing side, not only ACM.

2. The second question is quick:
why, despite the message of "VBR audio detected", ignoring it I never encountered problems. What is its meaning in front of this fact? ( I just red the IRC on VDM site between Cyrius and Belgabor).

Thanks a lot guys, hope my questions would be interesting...

Ok, ok...I admit it, my issue was somehow boring.

But, really no one would reply at all...! :)
