creating mkv file

I have an avi video and ass subtitle. I used vdm to create mkv but when I added subtitle under "stream list", only srt subtitle can be used.
I heard that mkv support ass subtitle too, so how to add ass subtitle ?

use mmg from MKVtoolnix instead of VDM. You will be able to add your ass file with it.

Yes, I can add ass subtitle thru mkvtoolnix.
do mkv support ass subtitle effects e.g. banner, karaoke effects, etc.

then poblem found. I used a banner effect in my subtitle which roll text from right to left on the screen top but the result is the whole banner text is displayed on top without rolling effect
