hi everyone,
first post, so HELLO :D
im sorry if this is a dumb newbie question, but ive recently started using AutoGK and im well impressed with it...
but ive heard many good things about the full version GK, and i was wondering, is it ok to have them both installed on the same machine at the same time?
id like to keep AutoGK installed because its just ace, but id like to learn GK too.
is this ok, or will i run into problems?
thanks in advance,
OW.

I'm not an expert at all.
I didn't even thought about any possible conflict, and I installed both agk and gk on my laptop.
I use agk to actually encode videos, then I use the applications bundled in gk separately when I need them (ie DGIndex, Virtual Dub Mod...).
Everything is working just fine.
Hope it helps.

Not only can AutoGK and Gordian Knot be installed on the same computer, they can even be run at the same time. VirtualDubMod doesn't seem to have a limitation as to how many instances can be open at once. I occasionally get lazy with some tougher jobs and let AutoGK handle them, but I don't like its auto cropping so I use Gordian Knot to determine the cropping parameters and copy those into AutoGK. Other than that, I prefer Gordian Knot for its superior control and quality of output, and it's well worth learning.

chanks for the advice cwr03.
tbh, and no disprespect to lenox, but i installed GK a few weeks ago, and just spending a few minutes playing around with it, thought that it was way too complicated and didnt fancy trying to learn it, when i had other ripping tools like aoa dvd ripper, dvdx, 1 click dvd ripper and smart ripper.
only when my various rippers all failed to rip Lost Series 1 NTSC, did i install AutoGK and it ripped the whole 6 disc, 24 episode series perfectly, so since then, ive stopped using all my other rippers and just use autoGK, which is dead easy to use, and seems to do an excellent job.
its since switching to autoGK by being so impressed with it, that ive returned to the idea that maybe i should give GK another chance and re-install it, and spend time learning it properly.
but i was worried there may be some conflict issues, hence, this thread.
i now use anydvd, dvd shrink, and autoGK (and sometimes dvd decyrpter and clonedvd2), and im truly delighted with the results im getting from this combination of tools.
thanks again, i'll get on with re-installing GK and put my learning cap on.
cheers

GK was originally developed by theWef, who later made it an open source project, which len0x eventually headed.
AutoGK is len0x's solely.
