I'm a quality snob.
I mainly revolve around clips that I convert fron DVD to avi - not really a whole DVD back up. The DVD are usually made by burning tv feed.

I'm no expert at all, and frankly I found it a bit difficult to learn all by myself, though the help of your great guides and discussions.

File size is the problem:
I bought the DivX converter with appropriate codec. This really keeps the file size small. It never changes the video resolution. But most of the times the image is blur and color zones are like "spotted". Not all the times, though.
If I use auto gk, I usually choose the custom file size option. As long as I keep it high enough, it encodes without changing the video resolution and quality is very good. But: the file size goes up throughout the roof (like 5 times bigger than DivX converter files)
Note: sometimes the video resolution and quality turn out to be the same with the two tools, but still the size difference stays.

Conclusion:
Is there a tool you know (even a non free one, I'm willing to pay) that can keep the auto gk quality, but encodes it into smaller files? A one click tool would be soo appreciated :D

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
