I don't know where this goes, and as I'm a n00b at this I figured I'd post here. I have a DVD movie, so I have all the vob files and everything. I have ac3 codecs installed - aud-x and another I found. I have Virtual Dub and Virtual Dub Mod - AC3 edition. I have DVD Shrink and AVI2DVD. Hopefully I have everything I need. I'm pretty sure the sound in the movie is 5.1 Dolby Digital, but it just wasn't done right on this DVD when it was burned. So what I want to do is as quickly and efficiently as possible re-encode and re-burn the whole thing with ac3 - Dolby Digital 5.1 - sound support. If the sound is not 5.1 I need something that will fake it.

So if you're up for a challenge I could certainly use the help!

What makes you think the AC3 wasn't done right? If it in fact isn't done right, how can you extract good audio out of it to re-encode it? You're just not making much sense to me.

Well I opened the ripped dvd up in DVD Shrink, and it says under audio AC3 2 channel. AC3 is 5.1 channels as far as I know, so something ain't right. Just looking at how to correct this.

No, you can have 2-channel AC3. There's no point to trying to invent 5.1 out of it.

@Deathbliss

Hi!

1) When you open your original (not the burned copy) DVD in DVD Shrink, what audiostreams are listed?

2) What is the Title and Region of the original DVD?
