I was wondering..

I really like xvid (praise praise) It's sharper than divx (doesnt softer soften the picture)
And nearly all encodes are super!.
But not always. Especially movies that have lots of dark content.

I remember something a great while back all over the world,
there was this fuss about who could encode the matrix-trilogy (starring k. reeves) best.
And make a xvid matrice that worked best with this movie.

My questions are:
1. Does anybody know of a renowned/good woring matrix that can encode this matrix movie
pretty damn good?
2. Will this matrix work well with other movies as well then, since its finetuned to
work with fast action-scenes and darker images with little or no artifacts whatsoever?

I'm pretty interested cuz I have had trouble lately
encoding darker and fast action scene movies, and non fast action (but dark)
as well.
And I do not know how to finetune xvid to produce a matrix that works well.
Seems to me like a headache
:o

Does size matter to you? I mean if it doesn't, you can just pour on the bitrate and it will look fantastic.

Also, matrices will help, some, but trial and error with the different options of XVID will produce more tangible results.

Perhaps the '>90%' preset from here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=841263#post841263) at a constant quantizer=3 would suit itself well for low-contrast movies.
