View Full Version : Encoder doesn't appear functional?

Just tried backing up the UK Doctor Who title 'Earthshock' with the latest AQE beta, and after 60% I get the following message:
- Creating M2V for VTS_02 segment 31
-- V02003100019001 no .M2V, retrying.
- Creating M2V for VTS_02 segment 31
-- V02003100019001 no .M2V, retrying.
- Creating M2V for VTS_02 segment 31
- Failed to create M2V: V02003100019001
- The encoder doesn't appear functional.
- Aborting...
Is this a DVD-RB issue or AQE - AQE doesn't stop open long enough to see what the error message is. The title has alternative anagles.

Sounds like it isn't connecting to AutoQMatEnc. You may want to try manually encoding one of the segments from the command line so you can see if it is working.

Hi Rendez2k!
It may appear as an unrelated question,
anyway, may I ask if you are using the NaN decoder ?
Cheers,

I've seen this error before when trying to encode without qmatopt but it worked alright after I selected qmatopt.
That was with beta 0.33.0.5. I've not tried it with 0.33.0.6.

You need to install
AutoQMatEnc_Setup.exe 0.32b first, then update with AutoQMatEnc033b03 it has some new updated files then update with AutoQMatEnc033b06

Hmmmm, I'm sure I installed it like this, as I update to every version. Maybe a re-install is in order. Also, if I open a .AVS file, is it the source thats being played? The problem segment actually plays then freezes half way through, but I wasn't sure if thats the encoded version.

Yes.
The encoded parts are the .m2v files.

the .avs file is the source file that is being read from the dvd rip thru avisynth, if that is freezing it may be a problem with the source rip/dvd or something wrong with avisynth. Try reinstalling Avisynth and/or reripping the disc

Agreed. I had a similar issue (but with CCE) due to a badly screwed up mpeg2 stream in the input... I never posted about this before, due the title was widely preprocessed... In my situation reripping the disc did not solve the problem... At the end I was forced to manually reencode that dammit segment(s) - yes two or three segments, in the same title - creating completely new DGIndex project(s), based on one of the latest releases of the dgdecoder of Neuron2, and re-integrating the m2v files into the DVD-RB project... That is really not simple, nor recommended... Just describing what I did...
...or something wrong with avisynth. Try reinstalling Avisynth...
I have to disagree with this part of your post: how it is possible that avisynth works well for the first 30 segments of the rendez2k project, and does not just in the 31st ?

Just giving all possibilities... it most likely is a bad rip/source problem but never know

I suggest rebuilding with HcEnc instead of AQE in an attempt to isolate the problem. If the HcEnc encode works, it's likely that AQE is to blame. Don't forget that AQE is still a beta product and sapstar would probably be keen to hear about proven problems.

Just thought of another possibility!
If you're using filters and you've made an error in the instruction, like misspelling the filter name, you'll also see the encoder error. But it's nothing to do with AQE: it's the avisynth encoder that's complaining.

Naa...
:)
Again our friend say he reencoded fine 30 segments, and he got the issue in the 31st...
How a mispelled name in the filter editor can work this way ?

You're probably right about the misspelling but an incorrect parameter might not show up immediately.

Nope, as Sir Didymus already said that wouldn't happen after 30 successful segments. On the other hand it wouldn't result in an encode error but in an extremly undersized output with a red on black movie, the error message which Avisynth gives.
The problem segment actually plays then freezes half way through
This is IMHO a source problem.

In my case it was due to an omitted ConverttoYUY2() in the .avs file. I had been doing some manual editing in some of them and accidently forgot to add this line at the end of one of them. I Found out by trying to manually encode the .avs with CCE. Then I could see the error message that DVD RB had hidden from me. I think (can't check right now since I have en encoding running) there is an option "remove/hide error messeges" somewhere in DVD RB, deselecting it might lead you to a solution.
