View Full Version : Formatting problem: GK VOB rips into Premier

I have recently bought a video-enabled MP3 player and I've been ripping my DVDs to it with GK, but now I want to get VOBs into premier and re-edit before putting it on my little player.

I tried importing the sound and video separately into muxing that by exporting it as an AVI, but I had synch problems. Does anyone know how to link video and audio files BEFORE you drop it onto Premier's timeline?.

I don't, so I tried muxing with GK first so I could drop the whole thing into Premier, but that didn't work. The only way I've been able to do it so far is to convert the muxed video to my MP3 player, but then I have to work in premier with a low-res WMV version of the video. I'd prefer to be able to play my re-edits on a larger screen as well my little player.

Sorry if this is too much of a premier question, but I thought maybe I had missed something in GK because premier should be able to accept an AVI straight away? What is the best way to convert a VOB so I can drop it into premier? Help would be very gratefully appreciated.

premiere pretty much only works well with uncompressed avis or dv avis..., what i would do is recode the avs you get from gknot into dv avi using virtualdub + cedocida vfw. audio can be imported separately and then droped into editing timeline, i dont see what can be an issue here?

Thanks, it seems I need virtualdub then.

RE: Audio. I have no trouble importing audio, but the thing is I don't want to import them separately as this does not guarantee synch. If at all possible I'd prefer not to have to nudge the audio over to fit the video as that is a massive waste of time. I've had good results and bad results but I didn't feel like I was in control.

If any knows any more tricks for efficiently dropping content into premiere I'm all ears and would welcome the advice. Otherwise, I 'll go and give Virtualdub a go.
