Hello,
I need some help.
I have to create a DVD with button over video, that buttons that appear while a video is playing, and if you click, go to a video/menu/etc. Besides the BOV, I also need subtitles. Otherwise I could perhaps make a motion menu...
I usually make DVDs in DVDLab Pro ou Adobe Encore, or when there is only a video, I use Muxman.
The problem is that DVDlab doesn't make BOV (it seems the next version will). And the only programs I now that do it are Scenarist and apple's DVD Studio Pro. Since I don't use Mac, and hate Scenarist, I'm trying to find another way to do it..
Anyone know of some software that can do it? Even if only the video + subs + bov. Then I can import the VTS into DVDLab. Muxman Premium say something about it in the site.. Anyone used that?
So... can I still do it without Scenarist?! :o
Thanks!

How are you with writing scripts?
Both muxman and DVDPlanner support scripts. Although neither can create buttons from within the GUI (atm) they can via scripts. No script documentation exists for DVDPlanner atm (I must work on that) but there is plenty of docs for muxman on the site. Its actually simpler than youy may realise.

Usually I have no problem with scripts.. I use avisynth all the time.
I've just checked DVDPlanner (I have never used it before), and it 's really nice! The structure of the Dpp file isn't hard to understand, but I have no clue on how to add BOV.
What I need is simple, a small 5m video with only one BOV. So 3 chapters, one before, one during, one after. When the BOV is activated, the user goes to another movie (1m movie). When this movie is over, it goes back to the middle chapper of the main movie.
If you have some time, could you show me a sample script of how I could do this? Thanks!

Don't forget that dvdplanner and muxman support Scenarist.scp scripts ;) Create a simple track in scenarist add a sub and 1 button. In the scenario link this button to something and then export the script. Load the script into dvdplanner or muxman and then save the project file. This will show you the complete syntax for the highlight info and also where to put the button commands. :)
I can always run up a small script file if needed.

Hello !
Bov can be easily achieved in Maestro, same applies to subtitles. I wasnt sure from your post if you need BOV and subtitles at the same time, I dont think that is possible. Let me know If you need help with BOV in Maestro. It is very well covered in manual though.

Hi!
I actually got the client to change his mind.. lol. Not because I'm lazy or something, but come on... One link only, in a 5m video.... why?! No-one will click it.. mostly because they have to watch everything anyway...
BUT since I need to learn this for sometime when it's really needed, I'll try what you said Zeul.. Create a simple scenario (this I can do), and then try the BOV on an external prog.
And Ivanski, yes.. BOV and subtitles. It's possible with pro programs.. I've seen it working. Apple's DVD Studio Pro makes it very easilly..perhaps it's best if I just got myself a mac mini and this software (it's not that expensive)...
Thanks!

Watch out for the upcoming release of dvdplanner (and muxman too i believe) which have menu driven support built into the GUI :)
