Am I correct in believing that once I have encoded my DVD to less than 4.7 gig (using DVD Rebuilder for example) there is no disadvantage in using DVD Shrink (with Nero 7) to burn the back-up DVD?

I'm assuming that, as no compression is taking place under DVD Shrink, this will be just as good a method of burning as using DVD Decrypter.

What would be the point of buring it with nero via dvdshrink?

Why not just burn it directly with nero and skip running what is already ready to be burned through dvdshrink? (did that even make sense..)

IMHO there is no point in the extra step if it's not necessary. If it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling, then by all means run it through dvdshrink. I just don't see the point in it.

To answer your question.. the only disadvantage is the extra time used with dvdshrink, it shouln't do any bit-peeling in your case, so the quality should be the same.

Thanks, I think it's just that I'm used to burning with DVD Shrink, and so I’m comfortable with it.

I've now been using Nero 7 to burn my DVDs but haven't as yet located the "book type" and “high compatibility mode” options that are selectable under DVD Shrink’s burning options. Perhaps these are default settings under Nero when burning DVD files?
