Hi!
I have a crazy problem:
longer mpeg 1 videos are played without any problem but my system (Thinkpad R52, XP SP2) is hanging on playing SHORT mpeg1 files. If I open one mpg file in the windows media player I can play it only once. On a second atempt the player is freezing after starting the file.

The mpg files were created with povray.

Some may suggest to use a different player.... (it works in standalone playing) but these mpg files are linked to a Powerpoint file, and powerpoint freezes when playing the first file because it's using the windows media player components in background.

My attempts to solve this problems:
system restore into earlier states
installing of different mpeg players (seems to affect only mpeg2)
switching off the hardware accelleration in the media player options
reinstalling graphics driver
upgrading to media player 10
installing media player 6.4 (the custom made) and setting the default playback to this .exe
but no effort.

The only solution that worked was converting them into mpeg4 :-(
