Optimum Picture Response

should i use OPR (Optimum Picture Response) on my VCR when i capture it to HD?
here is the options: Off, Soft, Sharpen

hmm maybe sometimes is better to make some equalization in analog domain than in pure digital. Some compensation for tape problems (inequal freq response for example), some compensation for ADC attenuation (most of it have rather poor freq response due low cost antialias filters before ADC)?

I think this is a kind of questions "what is the best settings for..."
