Hi.
Have ripped all my cds to mp4. Just bought a z530i mobilephone that only plays m4a(tested).
Any tips on how to easily change mp4 files in differrent folders to m4a?

It should work in theory, if we work on the basis that iTunes stores AAC in MP4, but gives it the M4A file extension.
However, there are a few things to check, why this might not work.
First off, what kind of AAC are you encoding or trying to play? Is it LC (Low Complexity), HE (High Efficieny), or HEv2 (High Efficiency with Parametric Stereo (IIRC)). Your phone might only support a certain type of AAC, and giving it the wrong type might be why it isn't working.
The other thing is does the phone expect raw AAC (with the extension as M4A), or does it expect AAC muxed in MP4 with a M4A extension.

The phone manual says it should play aac/mp4/m4a/mp3 files.
I have tried some AAC/MP4/M4A files.
Some newly created mp4 files did work. Older ones did not. No aac files worked.
The difference betwen old mp4 and new is:
Old ripped using faac in linux/windows. Some muxed from aac to mp4 container due to foobar2000 v0.9 not axepting aac files. tool used where foobar2000 v0.8.3 special edition with mp4 tools
New ripped using neros free aac encoder using foobar.
m4a files where ripped using linux/faac/kaudiocdcreator
All aac/m4a/mp4 files are ripped using LC 44100KHz stereo. Replygain tag added trough foobar and also tagged with artist/title/album using foobar.
Any tips are greatly apreciated.
Edit: Tried demux the working mp4 file to aac, couldnt play it then tried renaming it to m4a didnt work.
Edit2: Just tried taking like one file from all of my ripped album. Seems like alot of files worked both mp4/m4a (no aac as explained earlier). But there is one newer album in particiluar that just doesnt work att all. Seems to me like there is no easy conection, meaning that I probably need to re ripp when i find album that whont play.
Also I noticed some had tags that worked great and some files didnt have any thags. A litle anoying but gues Ill have to live with it? Or maybe there is some kind of easy gui out for mp4 files nowdays? (using mp3tagtools for mp3 files).

You can try MP3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/) for tagging MP4 files.
For the files that don't play, have you tried if it is LC, HE or PS? And btw. I would never use FAAC, it only supports AAC-LC and it's quality is far worse then LAME MP3.

Thnx I will try the program soon.
The files are all AAC-LC and i respectfully disagree about the quality :) but we are all free to make our own desisions.

Older nero builds wrote tag information at the end of the file rather than the beginning. Possibly this is related.

Tried mp3Tag but it said all files had tags. So maybe it could be that some are at the end and some at the beggining.
