Hi all, first I want to say how helpful this forum has been to me on many an occasion. I did do a search on this and found a thread but it wasn't much help:( .

I'm trying to back-up "High School Musical" I ran it through DvdFab 2.9.7.9 and saved the corresponding vts file. But when I try to burn it with Shrink I get a "file to big"... It won't. Now the last time I had a problem with Shrink it was surmised I had a Nero burning problem and had to burn directly with Nero instead of Shrink which I did and all was right with the world:) .
But I can't seem to get this one to go. After looking at the files shrink called up there really is nothing I can delete since all the audio streams are english, and I really want to keep the special features.
As always thanks for any an all help.

Hi!

"High School Musical" is a Disney release and, therefore, very likely contains "RipGuard" copy protection. Try either of the following solutions:

First solution: 1) Rip using DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (select "ALL" files, NOT "movie" files) and

2) Load the rip into VOBBlanker, set a new output directory/folder, select "Process all" and then press the "Process" radiobutton

Second solution: Use "RipIt4Me"

scanner, if you really must keep everything. You can shrink it twice. You can go here to learn how: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57622

Be forewarned though, the output quality of the second shrinking might not be to your liking though.

Or use an encoding solution such as DVD Rebuilder (http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/).

First solution: 1) Rip using DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (select "ALL" files, NOT "movie" files)

No go on this one, still to big I think the size was 48830 or something close to that. I'm working on memory, I'm at work right now, anyway as to "ripit4me" haven't been able to get it to work yet. I'm using the latest version 2.0 also. Will have to keep trying on that one it is a nice little prg though.

Or use an encoding solution such as DVD Rebuilder.

Not entirley sure what this is but I will give it a shot:thanks:

Maybe I'll try the dbl shrink thing see how the quality is on that.

Thanks again Guys your the best I'll let you know or if you have any other suggestions let me know...It just takes longer is all:D

Sounds like you've only performed Step 1 of the TWO steps I described in "First Solution":

First solution: 1) Rip using DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (select "ALL" files, NOT "movie" files) and

2) Load the rip into VOBBlanker, set a new output directory/folder, select "Process all" and then press the "Process" radiobutton

After you've processed it through VOBBlanker, DVDShrink should be able to properly/adequately compress it...

you could also try Shrinkto5 . I had one movie (don't remember which one) that dvdshrink wouldn't do, and shrinkto5 did. BTW I prefer dvdshrink , but you sometime have to go other routes .

HI, I have backed up hs musical and had the same problem with the file being too big.

the problem is....both wide screen and full screen format are on the same side of the disc, you can choose one in the menue.

what I did was the only option for me...was to do a re-author with dvd shrink after using dvd fab to put the movie to the hard drive. and make two backups one for full screen and one for widescreen. didn't have to compress anything at all.
