I just wish that the officials hadn't found this. It would have been great if those programs hit the mainstream market before anyone found out about it.

Also, I doubt that the black marker trick will work for this, as they must have learned it by now. But, who knows, they could have forgot, same as the print screen button. Hahahahah!!!!!

I still can't believe they forgot that.

BTW, the copy protection hasn't been broken. It's no different to grabing a DVD screenshot after the DVD has been decrypted by the software player. They have made something into news which is nothing to start with.

The disc copy protection still has to be cracked.

Right... this is great if you want to keep your current WinDVD software and just backup movies that you own up to today, but any movies you buy later will require an updated version of the player, rendering the method useless.

Additionally, the screenshot method of DVD backups must be painfully slow!

There is no hole in the copy protection. It is a non story. Even if it was possible to backup evey frame. The hardware specs needed would be enormous (both processor and storage space). What has to be done is the AACS protection to be cracked.

I'm sure there are a few people who have some good ideas already how to strip or break AACS, but aren't stupid enough to try them before the hardware is even released en masse. That would send the signal that Sony and Tosh have to change their scheme before things got too out of hand, also would surely mean HD-DVD+ and possibly the use of ICT.

I guess there are some nice guys and girls around the world who are very able to do these job. ;)

But, as you said, we need to "wait". It'll be more efficent and prudent to see a very great number of machines that plays blue-ray and hd-dvd around the world.

And when many people, a lot of people, buy some machines ( just happened with dvd players in past) for that purposes and when these formats get more stable and well known around the world, being sold ( players and discs) in many countries, I hope these dear people will study very carefully that hardware + softwares /digital mechanisms and see how that things really works.

After that, create some stable "device" that can clean/rip /by pass many discs and players too. And gone with that restrictive protections!

Well, I can't wait for that !! Really, I'm very anxious when these days just comes !!
