Leroy&Stitch - Wasted space?

The Region 1 version of this Disney sequel to "Lilo and Stitch" has an almost 1Gb "VIDEO_TS.VOB" file that appears to useless and unnecessary (contains no video or audio) - but is not eliminated when processing with either the PSL2 plugin/PGCEdit/FixVTS (or VOBBlanker) method or when processing with RipIt4Me.

I was under the impression that both methods were supposed to automatically identify and eliminate such detritus. Does anyone know why this doesn't happen?

(I subsequently used DVD95Copy[Pro] rip and compress and burn, while eliminating the "VIDEO_TS.VOB" file as part of the DVD. The resultant burned DVD plays flawlessly)

Have you tried dragging just the video_ts.vob into FixvTS ?

Hi!

Although doing so doesn't resolve my question about the two sets of programs automatically detecting such files, I have now tried your suggestion - and the end result was the continued existence of the "VIDEO_TS" file at the same 897,974KB as the original...

It is strange.

How about using MenuShrink and keep the menus as they are? I have seen it change the video_ts.vob when there is a lot of junk in it.

I would tick preview all cells and skip intro/outro clips. Then choose keep on all the cell previews that come up.

This actually happens quite a bit.

It might be referenced, in which case PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) would not kill it. You can of course kill it manually. MenuShrink (http://jean.laroche.free.fr/MenuShrink/) is the easiest way or VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm).

Although I appreciate your new suggestion, I'm not looking for alternative solutions, for as I said in my initial post, I was able to easily and properly eliminate this .VOB and all references to it, by using DVD95Copy(Pro) and simply UNchecking it...

Yes, it would. Or eliminate it entirely with VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) or PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html).

Can be done simply with freeware. See IFO/VOB editors forum.

2) What distinguishes this "VIDEO_TS.VOB" in this "RipGuard"-protected DVD (not automatically identified and "cleansed") from the "VTS_xx_xx.VOBs" seen in "ARccOS"-protected DVDs such as "Underworld Evolution" and "Ultraviolet" (automatically identified and "cleansed") in the processing done by "RipIt4Me" and the "PSL plugin package"?

The PGC might be referenced. I do not have the IFOs and menus so I can't tell you. If you wish to email me the IFOs, I can give you a better informed answer.

I mentioned "Underworld Evolution" and "Ultraviolet" because I believe you are already familiar with their "specifics" (or, perhaps, only "Underworld Evolution"). If I'm correct in this belief, can you say whether the the "VTS_xx_xx.VOBs" seen in "Underworld Evolution" and "Ultraviolet" (automatically identified and "cleansed") in the processing done by "RipIt4Me" and the "PSL plugin package" are referenced or unreferenced?

(Regarding your kind offer, I'd be extremely hesitant to either post or email the .IFOs - but, nonetheless, thanks for the offer)

Per the announcement (http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?f=9) (esp mpucoder's post) and forum rules, you may not post IFOs. Exchange of IFOs are best done privately.

I do not have these DVDs - certainly, not the R1 ones - so again, I am afraid I can not answer you with accuracy without actually analysing the files.

However, you might like to look in VIDEO_TS.IFO - especially VMGM_MAT. If VIDEO_TS.VOB is referenced there will be non-zero entries for at least one of: 0x000c0 (Start sector of VMGM_VOBS), and 0x00d8 and 0x00dc (start offset of VMGM_C_ADT and VMGM_VOBU_ADMAP). This despite the PGCs all being dummies (no programs) - refer VMGM_PGCI_UT.
