"invisible" dvd?

i have a set of 3 dvds (which contain a video taken on a camcorder) which will play fine on powerdvd or on my tv dvd player, but otherwise appears to be invisible. windows, and any other program sees the program most often as empty or a black disc.

how can i make a copy of this disc?

Consider getting the trial of Slysoft, AnyDVD, and install it in the background. I have run into this before, and AnyDVD seems to correct the initial identification. If there is a better answer, others will join in with additional posts.

thanks for the advice, i tried this program and still no luck, on the status for the drive it says:

"Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.0.1.1)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-r (version 5), Layers: 1
Total size: 1 sectors (0 MBytes)"

and the contents of the drive still do not come up.

1) Try opening with ISOBuster

2) Perhaps the discs have not been finalized. If so, use DVD Decrypter to finalize

I tried using DVD decrypter to finalise the dvd but an error message just comes up ("command sequence error"). Isobuster I have had a little bit more luck as the directory structure of the disc comes up - however when I try to copy the contents (specifically of the video ts directory) the progress stops after a certain % and stays there for a long time (it is not just working slowly as will stick there for hours).

any other solutions would be greatly appreciated for these problematic dvds!

Sounds like bad media and a corrupted filesystem.
