I am running a small network with my movies in mkv format on my server.
I have been using Media Player Classic with some minor issues that may or may not be caused by MPC.
I just stumbled across VLC and it seems to play everything that MPC does or at least in my case what I need.
To get my HTPC setup with a new player is a bit of a pain so before I try the swap I wanted to get some opinions on the player.
It seems much more network aware then MPC, but will this help me in any way if I use it by mapped drives in windows?
I don't plan on using it as a streaming server or anything like that. Just a simple player that the files happen to be on another computer.
Anyone have any experience with VLC with Girder?
In the will I see any advantage to using VLC over MPC?
