My goal is to encode some of the apples HD Quicktime trailers to WMV. The video part has been done but I have a problem with the audio.
The original quicktime audio is AAC 5.1 and I want to produce a WMA 5.1. I have Quicktime Pro and for exporting the audio I have 3 options Wav, AU and AIFF. The wav export gives only 2 channel wav. The AIFF gives the correct 5.1 channel.
So now my task is to convert the AIFF to WMA. I use Windows Media Encoder 9 and it doesn’t accept AIFF. What can I do and can I convert the AIFF to WAV? Thanks in advance.
I tried many things including BeSweet with no success.

So I take it does accept wav. Than my favourite way is to use BeHappy to encode to a 5.1 wav. Open the 5.1 AAC in BeHappy using directshowsource and encode (just make sure that the default AAC decoder is set to 5.1 output). And in case you don't know how to extract the AAC, use mkvtoolnix + mkvextractGUI. First remux the mov in mkv using mmg.exe, than extract the AAC from the mkv using mkvextractGUI. Simple and fast method, isn't it?

Maybe is bst way to encode aac/mp4->wma is via NeroWave Editor because have direct input for mp4 and direct output for wma (with lastest wma codecs which mean if you install wmp11 you have able to compress to wma 10)

Hmm, you right, so then there is no bst (quick) solution, btw i don't know any other way to compress to wma 5.1 except in Audobe Audition but that is very hard.
Maybe with Windows Media Encoder ??
Simple and fast method, isn't it?Aslo simplest way exist using YAMB/mp4box and extract directly MOV to raw AAC or better to new MP4 file

I have not found a solution yet. Daodan’s solution seems too long and complicated. Don’t know what mkv and mmg.exe is and requires too many steps. If I could find how to convert AIFF to WAV it would be a lot easier for me. If I’m not mistaking, AIFF is a container and I already have uncompressed PCM inside it. I just need to change the container to WAV.

Atlantis,
If you have "Adobe Audition" or "Cool edit pro 2.1" uses the guide (Help) of the multichannel encoder.
