DVD2SVCD is still the best all in one program out-there. How about adding support for DL-DVD.

Firstly I wouldn't hold your breath on further DVD2SVCD development for the time being. I get the impression the author is concentrating on other things at the moment.

Meantime, I'd be interested if you could clarify what advantage dual layer support would offer. DVD2SVCD automates the video and audio re-encoding processes to recompress a dual layer DVD source to much smaller media eg a single-layer DVDR or any number of CDR's. Surely if you are backing up a commercial DVD onto a dual-layer blank, there is no need for re-encoding anyway. You could just do a 1-1 copy with, say DVD Decrypter - rip the original DVD in ISO Read mode, and write to the blank in ISO Write.

Or am I missing something here?

I have found that some video stream formats on DVD have poor interlacing, some foreign films are an example... I have compressed these using DVD2 SVCD and used the added interlacing tools and resulted in a much smoother video effect - the catch is many of these are longer videos. This way I can use the interlacing tools and also maintain a higher bitrate that would not fit on a single layer dvd. One could also benefit by being able to manipulate the video size for those longer movies with 4:3 so they work better with widescreen displays.
