I am not sure if this is where I should post. I am purchasing a mini dvd panasonic vdr 250 camcorder and have checked out video and camcorder forums and am totally confused.
All I want to do is record 30 min on one side of the mini dvd and 30 min on the other side and then burn it on a regular 4.75 regular dvd and keep the original mini dvd as I will give the copy to the family.
I have been told that b/c it is mpeg 3 that I am going to lose quality b/c of compression. I can't use a film mini dv as my notebook does not have fire wire and so i am trying to understand this process and what programs I need to use.
First, my notebook is a 2410 toshiba satellite, 512 RAM, 1.9 ghz, pentium 4, mobile processor and my burner is an external BenQ I which I use with my Hauppauge win tv pvr usb2 to create dvd's from my classics library of videos.
I am very pleased with the quality of my dvd's created and have been doing this for a year now. (my hobby)
I don't understand what the process is once I have filled both sides of my mini dvd's and put them into my external burner which accomodates them. What programs do I have to use to get the contents eventually onto a 4.75 dvd?
I don't understand the process of encoding etc. and what program I will use to burn the dvd once I have it on my hard drive.
I presently use Ulead Movie Factory 4 with my Hauppauge unit, I also have Nero which I only use for data backup, and also I have Clone DVD and also 1 Click Dvd; however I am very much a Noob to all of this and don't understand the process.
I feel silly asking this but before I buy the unit, I need to know that it is possible and what I need to get to do the job.
Is there anyone out there who knows the steps and the programs that I need to accomplish this?
I do a lot of regular dvd backups with all of my dvd programs except Nero which I am not fussy about.
I really hope that there is someone who can help me with this. I don't plan on doing any editing at first as I simply want to be able to accomplish a simple compilation of the 2 thirty minute sides on one regular dvd.
Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated, thankyou
