When you've got a DVD disc, how can you tell how many frames per second there are on the disc? Is it the case that all DVDs have the same fps or does it depend on the source. For example NTFS is 29.97fps and PAL is 25fps - so does this mean if the source is 29.97fps then the disc will also be 29.97fps and if the source is 25fps then the disc will also be 25fps? Or do all DVDs have the same frame rate? I have seen somewhere that some DVDs have a frame rate of 59.94fps so I am totally confused.

If you can answer here then by all means do so but if there's already a webpage that'll explain all of this (which I can't find) then by all means post the link.

Many thanks in advance.

The DVD display frame rate is 29.97 (NTSC) or 25 fps (PAL). The number of coded frames in a sequence may vary due to pulldown (the DVD MPEG decoder performs this function).
