Hi,
I had to reinstall my whole system from scratch. I didn't change any hardware, and drivers are same versions.
When reinstalling DVD-RB, system ID changed and it asked me for a new key. I got that key, no problem, but with this, my counter is decreased...
Anyway, I thought only hardware changes were considered. I often have to reinstall my system. If every XP reinstall needs new activation data...
Any more info please why it happens

It shouldn't be a problem. The counter is reset with every DVD-RB version. It is also reset occasionally just to make sure folks don't run into problems. Even if you did hit the limit it can be reset with a simple e-mail to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com.

Many thanks, well, I don't install from scratch every month anyway :-)
But thought ID was hardware only dependent...

Reinstalling the O/S or reformatting the HD will also cause it to change.

I don't like to be morbid, but what happens when you die? Does that signal the eventual end for functioning versions of legitimate copies of RB Pro?

You're not morbid, it can happens to everyone. I hate activation because of such things, You neve own the program you "buy"
But for now, he's alive :-)

There is a non-registering version on my hard drive that has been "willed" to Rockas in the event that I should meet my maker. :scared:
I plan to live a whole lot longer than DVD-RB, though.
