problem ripping ultra violet for back up

problem ripping ultra violet for back up cant seem to get back up onto hard drive using dvdfab decrypter free version
is it a must to buy the non free version to do this with some amount of ease

I used DVDFab Decrypter. Nothing else in my little bag of tricks wanted to work!

PGCedit with the Arccoss plugin, AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 and DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.7.9 all work for this movie

i am having a devil of a time trying to work pgedit, i know that it is me, but somehow that doesn't lessen the frustration, i am following the guide, and have for a few movies, but i can't seem to get it to work, right now i am trying ultraviolet, i ran it through , saved the psl2 file, loaded it in dvd decrypter, ran it through again. and i am getting am I/O error , yet again

thanks fishman, i have downloaded the proggy, but it is way to late for me to have a go at it, but i will tomorrow , and pop back in with the verdict, i just wish i could figure out what the prob i am having with pgcedit, i am running a laptop (toshiba) with xp-pro service pack 2, i tried to do a read using my external dvd burner ( it's an lg) and it won't even open it up in decrypter, just goes into a continious clicking noise ! at least in the laptop drive the dvd opens, anyhoos, goodnite all, and thanks for sharing your expertise.

i got a chance to watch ultraviolet last nite, i did it with the ripit4you programme, i used the wizard and followed the prompts, rather than the one click method, though i am not sure if that made any difference. my back up worked just perfect , thanks again for you help and suggestions, i am eventually going to figure out why my troubles with pgcedit are so confounding , and solve them, but in the meantime ripit4u is the cat's meow !

(ps , i was sadly disappointed in the movie though, i guess i expected too much, the resident evil film has spoiled me i guess )

I need some help with this, because I'm having serious issues making a backup. I've tried each method and program listed and I get the same result with each: the video and audio are still far out of synch.

I've had this problem once before, but I'm not sure if the solution used there would even work, since ultraviolet is one of those arccos protected dvds.

Is it possible to rip a movie in IFO mode, from an arccos disc, and still be able to have it be properly fixed? And if so, would that even solve the desync problems?

And if it won't fix it that way, how do I get a clean rip?

if by "is it possible to rip a movie in IFO mode ..." you think about only ripping a given PGC, here is a little quote of blutach :

If you know which cells are bad/unused (the advanced features of the plugin tell you this), you can indeed rip in IFO mode in DVD Decrypter - just untick the offending cells. It will totally skip over all the arccos rubbish.

Most ppl rip in full disk mode and get ridda extra crap with VobBlanker or in DVD Shrink's re-author mode. Just seems easier.

Err, no, that doesn't really help quite as much.

What I'm thinking of trying is having pgcedit do a rip in file mode, make the psl2 file, and when it goes to rip it the second time, switch to IFO mode and only rip the pgc with the movie in it. Would that even work?

And assuming it did, would the video and audio still be out of synch when I encode it, or would it finally be fixed?
