Maestro sound effects for buttons

I have been trying to figure out how to assign a sound effect/audio clip to my menu buttons. For instance if I choose a button in my menu a clicking sound is produced. Any insight would be appreciated.

There's NO sound effects for DVD technology. The new blu-ray has this, but not sure about the HD.

workaround:

For still menus,you can duplicate the menu without subpicture, and add the sound effects to that duplicated menu, so this new menu would have no button highlights and last for only about 1 sec(the length of the sound effect).

This way would not be ideal for motion menus, since the DVD technology would not capture the last frame automatically, so the viewers would definitely notice the sound effect from the new menu is a different thing from the motion menu.

This is possible but it's not that fluid and there's a delay between the button press and the sound effect depending on the seek speed of the player...

1. Produce two versions of your *destination* menu, identical in every way, but with different audio tracks
2. One audio track has the sound effect right at the very beginning, the other doesn't
3. The first time you click to go to the destination menu, you go to the first version. When that menu loops, or you return from a video, you go to the second version

If you want to be really clever, you can make this a movie instead of a menu with buttons over video and two audio tracks. This has the advantage of allowing you to save memory (it's the same menu, not two) but the disadvantage of not being able to specify which button is initially highlighted - it's got to be button one.

You can change the button one in the subtitle editor, pre-button selection to other buttons, or even none. I haven't played with the NONE option, so i don't know how's maestro gonna handle this situation. It'll be so cool to have a Set highlight button in the command sequence specically for BOVs and pre script in maestro...

you can try using multiple audio for the menu.

Menus can have but one audio track, and one subpicture track, which is why easy2bcheesy suggested authoring as a title. You can also do this with transitions if the button leads to a new menu. Start each of the new menus with the sound effect, and then use cell still to freeze the video.
