I just did a fresh install of WinXP, and .NET 2.0. Of course MeGUI is one of the first apps I reinstalled, but it's having issues with it's update function:

I guess I'm needing help determining if it's a problem on MeGUI's part, or if it's something I did to mess it up. And if it is a fault on my end, how do I fix it? The other 20 updates (there are 34 updates on a fresh install) downloaded and installed perfectly...
Thanks!!

Make sure that your path to your AVISynth folder is correctly set in your settings.

Gah! Thanks Merlin... I had just figured out that I had to install Avisynth. What a dork. I was just coming back here to say I'd figured it out.
NeroAacEnc is still not downloading though. The error message says that it can't be found on the server. That was easy enough to fix by manually downloading it and putting it in the right folder.

They have pulled it temporaily from the megui auto update until they get a distrubution licence..you will have to install manually for now.

I had these problems as well. Even when you install your own version, it still bugs you about an update.
Perhaps AviSynth itself could be included in the auto update? I was a bit confused about this part as well.

We have been through this before in the MeGUI Bug Report thread. The thing is that the auto-updater is still in its infancy now and relies on an XML file generated and updated by itself to keep track of the versions installed by it. So if you update something outside of MeGUI, there is no way for it to detect that. Auto-updater will still go as per the information it had stored previously in the XML file. Don't expect this to change anytime in the near future - making the auto-updater super intelligent is not so easy. Querying each component real-time to get the current version is a daunting task.
The key here is not to update any components used by MeGUI outside of it. But if you absolutely must, keep those components & folders separate.

I think the main problem here is that the devs haven't removed neroaacenc from the server autoupdate xml yet, which is going to cause frustration for anyone getting nagged by it every time the program is opened.

Tools menu->Update?
If you don't have it, your version is way out of date and you can update the .exe from x264.nl.

I can't help but point out that a good request for help is written in proper English (in this forum) and is overdetailed. Under no circumstance must you assume that your counterpart has any clue as to what you are doing on your machine so you gotta mention every little detail that you encounter starting with you launching the application that's giving you grief. I don't know why this is the most natural thing to me but there are literally billions of people out there that don't get this simple procedure.

yall,
I posted in the MeGUI questions thread about this, so sorry if this is considered crossposting...
Auto Update seems to be down as of 12:11 AM PST on Tuesday August 29.
Wondering if that is in fact the case and also what the ETA might be on getting it back up.. Eager to get a new machine tech'd up.
