Hi,

I've been using nero 2 pass for a while, not bad quality but not keen on the package.

So i've moved over to graphedit and a combination of filters with frameserving from dgdecode and avisynth for processing.

I've been using the 3ivx video encoder in single pass mode with qf=3 (95%) and the quality sucks! lol.

I'm gonna do a test with 2 pass but i'm wondering, do any of the ASP based encoders do a nice 1 pass job? Is 3ivx crap alltogether?

The bitrate is averaging at 400kb/s with a res of 240*176 @ 25fps or less (if ntsc).

Oh i can only use ASP because the play yan i got doesnt support AVC.

Thanks

Neil

3vix used to be good, but divx and xvid passed in in quality and speed some time ago (especially if you have dual-core). If you try xvid, look at Teeg's xvid presets (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=107897) thread, where any level of quality/size can be yours. You can probably use them 1-pass at q3 or q2.5, but it would waste a fair bit of space.

are you using a dshow encoder for a specific reason?
if yes, there is a xvid dshow encoder, and nero is dshow based too (tough i dont know if nero still allows encoding in graphedit with their filters anymore, propably not)

if you dont need dshow you can also try ffmpeg's asp encoder or hdx4
